View Ridge & Sand Point
Lake Washington at one end, hilltop views at the other, and Magnuson Park in between — across two distinct neighborhoods that share the same northeastern light.

View Ridge sits on the hill above Lake Washington's northern shore; Sand Point spreads from the lakefront up toward it. Together they cover the easternmost stretch of Northeast Seattle, with Magnuson Park as the area's natural anchor — 350+ acres of former naval-air-station-turned-public-park that gives the area its outdoor identity.
The two neighborhoods share an outdoors-first sensibility and a pace defined by morning runs around Magnuson and weekend afternoons on the water. Schools track through View Ridge Elementary and the Eckstein/Roosevelt path, and both areas feel family-anchored — but with a more outdoorsy edge than the rest of Northeast Seattle.
What separates them is geography. View Ridge sits high, with hilltop homes and views over Lake Washington toward the Cascades. Sand Point sits low, with lakefront access and the gated Sand Point Country Club community tucked along the north shoreline. The walk between them is gentle, but the housing stock and feel shift noticeably.
People & Community
Outdoor-active families dominate. Residents tend to be the kind who can list five trail systems within five miles and have a kayak or paddleboard somewhere in the garage. Magnuson Park is the daily backdrop — kids' soccer games, pickleball courts, off-leash dog runs, and the long stretch of Lake Washington shoreline. The neighborhood feels noticeably less manicured than Laurelhurst or Madison Park, and that's part of the appeal.
Daily Life
There isn't a dense commercial pocket inside the neighborhood — most daily life rolls down to Wedgwood's 35th Avenue corridor or south to the U-Village and Ravenna. The View Ridge Café and Sand Point Way grocery anchor the basics, and the upper Wedgwood and Ravenna restaurant rotation is a 5-minute drive. It's a part of Seattle that prioritizes the outdoors over the dining scene, and most residents like it that way.
Magnuson Park & The Water
Magnuson Park is the headline. 350+ acres on the lake with sports fields, swimming beaches, an off-leash dog park, paddle launches, sailing programs, an outdoor theater, and miles of waterfront paths. The Burke-Gilman Trail runs along the south side of the area for cyclists and runners. The Sand Point Country Club's 18-hole golf course rounds out the recreation options for members. From the hilltop, sunrises over the Cascades are part of the morning routine.
